RE: Second Ethernet Port on the AW51D Speed setting

Freddy and Daren,

To have the hme 10/100 cards function properly it is necessary to
install Foxboro QF 992053B. It seems to provide most of the functionality
contained in Sun patch #104212-13.

Configuring a single/all hme card settings is done with the Solaris
"ndd" command. For example to "lock down" the hme2 interface
to communicate at 100Mbps halfduplex mode:

# ndd -set /dev/hme instance 2
# ndd -set /dev/hme adv_100T4_cap 0
# ndd -set /dev/hme adv_100fdx_cap 0
# ndd -set /dev/hme adv_100hdx_cap 1
# ndd -set /dev/hme adv_10fdx_cap 0
# ndd -set /dev/hme adv_10hdx_cap 0
# ndd -set /dev/hme adv_autoneg_cap 0

Hubs and switches should be configured to match the network settings
on the Sun box. (i.e. switch is autoneg, Sun is autoneg.)

Sun recommends creating an rc "S" script placed in
/etc/rc2.d to make settings for a particular hme interface permanent and restored upon
reboot. Don't ever change the hme0 settings, IA is expecting 10Mbps/half
duplex.

Speed and duplex mode settings can always be checked on a particular
interface (e.g. hme3) by

# ndd -set /dev/hme instance 3
# ndd -get /dev/hme link_status [Command return either 0 (down)
or 1 (up)]
# ndd -get /dev/hme link_speed [Command return either 0
(10Mbps) or 1 (100Mbps)]
# ndd -get /dev/hme link_mode [Command return
either 0 (halfduplex) or 1 (fullduplex)]

Note: These commands do not function without the Foxboro QF.

        I have an AW51D
and have set up the second Ethernet Port.
The hardware in question looks

        Like a FastSCSI/UTP 10/100Mbs
Ethernet Interface Card and
resides in PCI slot 1.( There are

        No Foxboro part numbers on
this card). I have connected it
to a pc running Xterminal emulation

Via a hub and managed to get
remote display manager
operational. However if I install this

In the factory, I cannot ping
any other stations on the
Cisco switch. If I connect via the hub then

To the switch it is fine. It
looks as though the problem
lies in the fact that the interface card is

        Running at 10 Mbps. How
can I get this card to run at at
100 Mbps?
