ERUS software (www.erus.com) created a simple printer replacement for us and
now markets it under the name "Visual Alert". You can download a demo on
their web site. It uses any PC (Pentium preferred) and is a direct
replacement for the printer. It allows scrolling through the last 1000
alarms and maintains dated log files for later review. At about $300/copy
it's hard to beat.

Subject: Alarm Printers

    Greetings from Arizona,
I have a question about replacing alarm message printers with PC's. I
heard about someone doing this at a user group and would like to get more
information. Is anyone doing this?? I've contacted Foxboro (US west coast)
but they didn't have any details yet. I was lead to believe this was a
Foxboro product but I might be wrong about that.
     Any information would be appreciated...............
           Thanks
            Bob Swapp
