I don't see problems. You rename all your sources to *.pas. And you can
set highlighting for *.pp also to pascal. Under linux a lot of editors
already support *.pp for pascal sources.

*.pp are fpc specific (objfpc) sources
*.pas is for comaptiblity with tp7 and delphi
