:-) I must agree with you 100%!  So many still use *.cfg or *.txt etc...
for a long time now I have used *.config or *.text without problems. The
8.3 naming convention is so DOS and Microsoft specific! So 80's. OS/2,
Linux etc has had long filename support longer that I care to remember, so
why not use it.
