That is the right way. As an alternative you can install the FPC 2.6.4 deb (e.g. from the Lazarus site), then download the FPC 3.0.0 sources and 'make install' them. > Now I have to deal with Lazarus, but that is another list/forum... Lazarus needs libgtk2.0-dev, which should automatically install libgtk2.0-common. Lazarus 1.6RC1 will be available soon and it provides deb packages for FPC 3.0.0 and Lazarus.
