If XML is ever going to become truly mainstream, Adobe has to make creating XML outputs just as easy as creating a PDF. Adobe's marketing department can hype the advantages of XML all they want—current XML workflow's demand too many resources to be cost effective for most users.  Adobe needs to make XML outputs as simple and cost-effective as Save As PDF, while maintaining authoring capabilities that are just as simple and intuitive as is the current unstructured authoring environment. I believe this can be accomplished. However, Adobe engineers have much work to do, perhaps including with some paradigm shifts regarding the basic authoring process, to accomplish the goal of a truly easy, flexible XML environment.
