Thank you to everyone who replied. Originally, when I opened the Variables panel from the Special menu, selected my user variable then clicked the Edit tool, the fields in the Add/Edit dialog box were completely blank. I was able to add a new user variable just fine, but when I would open the new variable to edit, again the fields were blank. That is what led me to believe that this was something wrong in my Frame configuration. When I opened the Variables panel via the Window menu however, (thank you Rick!) I am now able to edit again. Is this a bug in Frame 9??

That's because there isn't anything variable-related in maker.ini, and there's no variable-related dumb change that you could have made to FM. Can you edit the file? Whoa, you're way off base here -- mif2rtf.ini is a Mif2Go config file, not an FM config file. Your problem isn't an FM install/config problem. But I think you need to clarify exactly what steps you take and what doesn't work before anyone can help you. Richard G.
