Maybe, maybe not. That's the tough call. It didn't work in the "clone" era, and I'm not sure it would now. Don't forget that Apple is first and foremost a hardware company. Revenue is tied to iron, not OS X. As a shareholder I pay attention to this a bit more than casually. - web
