Regarding FM making you wait until the action is complete, it sounds like FM needs to emulate DOS (remember DOS?) a little. "Are you sure?"
Actually, some of the WinNT apps (file manager, for example) have a switch that you can set to either ask for confirmation or not. That little switch saved me many times. Ah, for the good olde days. What would be really good is if we could either edit maker.ini or have an item to the preferences menu that globally set confirmation on or off. And while were changing the preferences menu, let's add a "verbose" toggle switch too. That would help FM newbies a lot, assuming that the FM developers or TWs put some decent docs in there. All IHMO of course. It happens in other apps as well. e.g. M$ Excel. I don't have a wheel mouse, but clicking above or below the slide on the vertical scroll bar has the same effect some times when scrolling big tables or web pages. I thought XP had done with this, but It happened for me just the other day again. If anyone knows better, please correct me. What I am more annoyed about is the fact that if you have a huge collection of files in a book, and accidentally choose all the files in the book file window, there is no quick escaping it. You just have to wait. Adobe should add a cancel option to this and some more actions, e.g. by hitting CTRL-C or CTRL-D (UNIX-wise) or the ESC or maybe SHIFT-ESC. I am working on several books containing somewhere between 100 and 200 files and this gets very annoying. I'm doing a lot of work in an FM document that includes a 75-page long table, landscape format. When I use the mouse wheel to scroll from page to page, the response is mostly pretty jerky - scrolls slow then jumps a couple of pages. It's fine on other documents. > > FM is installed on my PC, but accesses the file over a network.
