Depends how you have things set up. If you have been working from the network, and selected for FrameMaker to create a backup file, I'm afraid the default is to place the backup file in the working directory (right next to each other, it's daft!).
I don't think FrameMaker keeps a local cache on the client machine I'm afraid.. Sorry. I hope someone else has a more encouraging answer for you. *heads off to commit changes to SVN!* Gordon -----Original Message----- From: framers-bounces+gordon.mclean=grahamtechnology.com at lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-bounces+gordon.mclean=grahamtechnology.com at lists.frameusers. com] On Behalf Of Michael.Long at thomson.com Sent: 30 January 2007 15:56 To: framers at lists.frameusers.com Subject: Disk vs memory All, My associate and I have just discovered that all our work in FrameMaker yesterday is likely lost. The network people were updating servers yesterday and unknowingly lost our files and probably others. Can anyone tell if and where I can find those files on our C drives, which I assume is the "disk" referred to in Frame doc? I recall and find references in Frame doc to the interaction between computer memory and disk, which suggests that copies of all saves are stored on C. But I find no information identifying a location on the disk that files are saved to. A search of C for the .fm files didn't turn up the targets. Tips are welcome--the sooner the better.
