Like Diane I found that installing 8.0.1 fixed this problem (it also meant that the Adobe Reader "speak aloud" feature now works as per Frame 7 generated PDFs again, which it didn't properly with tagged PDFs enabled).
In my case I saved to a PS file using the Adobe print driver and then generated a PDF. (As I do not have Acrobat 8 installed on my FrameMaker 8 test system, I use the Adobe PDF Add-On that comes with FrameMaker 8. When I double click on a PS file it appears to do nothing, but eventually a PDF and log file get generated. Also, I found that after installing 8.0.1 I had to reinstall the Adobe PDF Add-On by drilling down into the FrameMaker installation software and running a low level installer; but this might have been peculiar to my installation set up.) It solves the problem. But there is a better way. Install the 8.0.1 patch that Adobe released last week. It fixes a long list of bugs, including that one. I verified this with Adobe Tech Support. The failure to distill a book to PDF is a known issue with FM 8, which occurs regardless of whether the book is created in Structured or Unstructured FM. It is recommended that everyone use this work-around, or distill each file in the book individually, until Adobe releases a patch. -- Valerie Lipow vallipow at gmail.com On 10/30/07, Art Campbell <art.campbell at gmail.com> wrote: > > Try turning Tagged PDF ON in your settings, and make sure that all > files are open on your desktop. > > Also, SaveAs may not be the best way to generate it. I still have to select the Tag option. Has anyone else found this to be true? -Gillian ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
