Dedicated pgf formats give you greater control of the page layout -- spacing above and below, span or don't span columns/sidehead (for tables), keep with next/previous, start at top of column/page ... Sure, you can do most things some other way without dedicated anchor pgfs, but I think it's generally harder. Richard Richard G.
