Alison, Here on my W7 x64 FrameMaker 9 (and 10) behave as You expect: - Any application window is open - FrameMaker 9 is either in maximised window or in not maximised mode - FrameMaker Console window also exists - Right click on task bar and select "Show Windows Side by Side" => FrameMaker 9 and the open app use half of the screen each. FM console window is not touched => Undo "Show Side by Side" : the previous arrangement appears. => The last active window will become the left in the side by side arrangement. So there must be some other influence on You system.
