Since posting I have managed to solve this. It still seems odd that it didn't work the way I had it set up but I think I must have been going wrong somewhere.
I created a new Character style called "Warning" identical to "Caution" and used it for the Warning small caps word. Once imported, that worked ok. I reapplied the Warning icon to the WarningAnchor style and hey presto. Sigh. The wonders of Frame. Laura From: Laura Fergusson Sent: 14 December 2011 11:29 To: 'framers at lists.frameusers.com' Subject: Paragraph styles not importing correctly Hi all I have created a template which contains two separate paragraph styles: Caution and Warning. The basic look and feel of the two styles is the same - lines above and below, with an icon on the left as follows: [cid:image005.png at 01CCBA53.8901CBF0] All good so far. The template is fine, but when I Import All Formats from the template into an existing file, BOTH Caution and Warning appear as Cautions. That is to say, they LOOK the same (both say Caution and have a yellow icon), even though they both are tagged correctly as Caution or Warning. In other words, the Autonumbering for Warning is importing as the Autonumbering for Caution: they BOTH say Caution: \t in the existing file. Background info - in the template: * The word CAUTION/WARNING is part of the relevant Caution/Warning style, set up in the Autonumbering format as Caution:\t or Warning:\t respectively. The small caps format is a Character style called "Caution" (used for both Caution and Warning paragraph styles). * The icons are on the reference pages as Caution and Warning respectively. * The line above and the icon are contained in a CautionAnchor/WarningAnchor style - Paragraph Above is a single line (from ref page), Paragraph below is the icon (taken from the reference pages). The Next Paragraph is set to Caution/Warning as required. * The line below is contained in the Caution/Warning style - Paragraph Above is empty, ParagraphBelow is a single line. I have tried importing into a completely blank document - same thing. Have also tried deleting the existing Caution and Warning styles from the existing document, then importing from the template - same thing. Does anyone know what is going on? Is there a known issue with paragraph styles not importing correctly? I have not seen this before in my many years of Framemaker usage. It is possible that I'm missing something....
