Last year I attended a training session on S1000D and Simplified Technical
English at our vendor Smart Communications, Inc.,  in New York City.
We used the S1000D specification, 500 pages, which is the only published 
standard.
Simplified Technical English is part of S1000D. The SMART MAXit Checker works 
with FrameMaker 7-10.
We adapted for Controlled English with success. The use of S1000D and STE is 
mandatory for Airbus, NATO, air, land and sea. Check out the following link for
