My experience with those tools was not positive. They are quite old now and the world of TeX and friends has changed significantly in the past 5 years. They will not be able to understand packages that are in common use today. Still, give them a go, there's nothing to lose and much to gain.
I don't know if MML has changed with the upgrades to FM over years. It has been a while since I last used it for transfer purposes.
