I don't think it would work, but I don't know. I picked up the trick somewhere else and don't know anything about the inner workings of it. I would point out, though, that it does not change the keypad to hex. It merely adds the capability. So all the old Left-Alt+xxx ASCII? key combinations work, i.e. you don't type the plus sign and there is a limit of three characters. So I don't think the 4-digit code you listed would work.
