I'd do the first 20 or so pages manually, and include various bits from
the various sections, toc, index, bibliography, etc. Then present that
to the client with a realistic quote for doing the rest. If you. can
even represent all of the bit in Word, they will probably see that this
path is flawed. If now, be sure your quote is adequate to cover time,
expenses and mental health support tools.

Hello all,
I have an absolutely massive frame maker document (700+ pages including a
bibliography) that is laden with cross references and graphics. It’s a heavily
detailed scientific guide that I’m also single sourcing to produce another
guide from. I’ve gone round and round with my client on this, but they’ve
decided that they want everything in Word now, despite all my articulate
arguments about why Word is not the source tool you want to use for something
like this. That said, that means I have to convert this beast to a word
document. I know I’m probably up the proverbial creek without a paddle, but is
there any even remotely possible way to do this short of copying and pasting
everything in and manually reformatting ? I have tons across references. I have
numbered figures that need to remain numbered sequentially. I have a
bibliography that uses super scripts for cross references, etc. It’s just a
nightmare and I don’t even want to think about starting this but I don’t have a
choice.
Any and all advice short of drinking heavily and running away is appreciated
Thank you so much,
Tam
