Hello Tammy,
From my experience, I have seen some cases where some font variants
have licensing restrictions, which can affect whether Acrobat Distiller
can embed the font in to the output. I have just downloaded the
Roboto font family from Google fonts, and they all appear to be TrueType
fonts.
I recently had a technical case from one of my customers who was having
quite some trouble with TrueType fonts that were embeded in a PDF file,
produced from Illustrator. We discovered that the production from Adobe
FrameMaker had the fonts /sometimes/ being mutated in to ugly looking
fonts with some of the background vectors being mutated in to blocky
bitmap content.
My customer found that changing the "Adobe PDF" printer advanced
settings on the Adobe Illustrator creator's workstation solved the
problem with the exported PDF document, which was then laid-up in
specific pages in FrameMaker, and the output is now as intended :-)
but YMMV
Regards
