Please forgive my stupidity; I sent a version of this email without links.
I am writing with two announcements: one of a Zoom call analyzing the film /M /(Fritz Lang, 1931), and the other of the release of eleven new films of my own, 4K video, total running time 81 minutes,my largest single release thus far. These consist of seven new /Interactions/ <https://www.fredcamper.com/A/Interactions/index.html>, numbers 29 through 35, with associated prints based on them, and four that begin a new type of film for me, /Revisits/ <https://www.fredcamper.com/A/Revisit/>, four finished so far, more to come. If you have limited time, I can recommend two of these new films./Interaction 34: Vehicle Lights/ <https://www.fredcamper.com/A/Interactions/034/index.html> (9 minutes) is rather unlike any of my others, and/Revisit 3 (6 7 8)/ <https://vimeo.com/1187147394> (12 minutes) is perhaps my own favorite of these eleven, though I hope they are all of somewhat comparable quality and interest. If either or both of those take too much time for now, you could take a look at another favorite, a two minute film I announced in my last release, /Journals 8: Alley on 180th Street/ <https://vimeo.com/1125224665>. /Interactions 32: To the Temenos/, <https://www.fredcamper.com/A/Interactions/032/index.html> documents my visit to this event and its environs, the outdoor screenings <https://www.thetemenos.org/> of new sections of Gregory Markopoulos’s great great film /Eniaios/, in 2024. The final sections of /Eniaios/ will be unveiled at this year’s event in June.
I have also added what I hope is helpful new material to my Artist’s Statement on /Interactions/. What follows below is entirely about the /M/ Zoom call and related “film analysis” plans.
The first film analysis Zoom call, on Douglas Sirk’s /All That Heaven Allows/, I wound up doing three times for audiences from the US, Brazil, Europe, and East Asia. The film /M /has received more serious attention than /All That Heaven Allows/ and over a longer period of time, but I believe I have uncovered many aspects of it that have gone largely unnoticed, contributing to overall formal patterns that amount to a vision consistent with other Lang films.
if you are interested, I have four dates and times to propose, and if I receive “this one is best for me” and/or “I want to attend but I cannot make that one” emails, they will factor into my choice. Unfortunately, as most people interested so far are not in Asia, I have chosen a time that should work for the Western Hemisphere and Europe: 12 noon Chicago (Central Daylight) time, or GMT-5. Possible dates are Saturdays and Sundays, May 30, May 31, June 6, or June 7. Whether you write me with preferences or not, you will receive another email when a date and time are chosen. As with the first, there is no charge for this call. If there is enough demand, I could do another at 8 or 9 PM which has worked in the past for some people in Asia. Like the /All That Heaven Allows /calls, this will be long, but likely not as long, perhaps closer to three hours.
Fairly soon I should have a Patreon page with a small monthly fee and recordings of the Zoom calls, some of my writing on film not easily available otherwise, and which I may also use to charge a larger fee for a possible three or four month online courses. After some consideration, I think the first one will be “Auteurs of Classical Hollywood,” mostly films from 1960 or earlier, fifteen weeks, one or two films per filmmaker. This could start in September, though not earlier. You are on my general mailing list, so will receive notifications of all of these. Anyone not on the list wanting to subscribe, send me an email with “subscribe.” My address is the one that this is being sent from, [email protected] To unsubscribe from my list, send me an email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line. No hard feelings on my part if a friend unsubscribes!
Thank you for your interest. Fred Camper <http://www.fredcamper.com/>
