Hello all, Technicolor Toronto's film processing lab officially closed its doors today (on the heels of similar Technicolor lab closures in Vancouver and Hollywood in the past two years).
Their dedicated processing and engineering staff, (most of whom were originally employed by Medallion PFA, acquired by Technicolor in 2003) had life-long careers in motion picture film processing. The knowledge and experience shared by these individuals is truly staggering, as are the millions upon millions of feet of film that they processed over the years. Medallion PFA (later Technicolor) meant a great deal to both commercial and experimental filmmakers in Toronto and beyond. If you have a spare moment today, take a breath and thank the wonderful people who make our film-making and film-going experiences a reality for so many years. Wish them luck for their future, in whatever vocation they may choose to pursue.
