Hi Judith, I have been repairing cameras professionally since 1980. I graduated from the long defunct National Camera camera repair course. The first few years, I did mostly still cameras. Since 1989, movie cameras exclusively, 16mm and some super8. My speciality is Bolex 16mm equipment. It takes many years to become really proficient in this field. It also takes tools, parts, special instruments and test equipment.
If you want to start on your own, you can download some of the original course materials from National Camera at this site: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=d4b54f69523e88b5&id=D4B54F69523E88B5%21112 Study them and find yourself a couple of old cameras to practice on and dig in.
