And many, many other French and European narratives. Too many to list here. I see Nunez on your list. He owned his camera and lenses, and shot most of the work. Not uncommon, but also somewhat unique for a narrative maker. Some of Ira Sachs... Forty Shades of Blue; Keep the Lights On. Ellen Kuras shot a lot of s16 indie narratives, including the doc on Neil Young. DuArt NYC was cranking out a lot of super 16 in the late-70s, 80s, 90s, as one of the first U.S. labs to process s16 negative, and perform 16>35 blow-ups. Others on this list probably know exactly when DuArt started doing this work. For narratives, optical blow-ups are/were so costly.... productions with low shooting ratios opted for 35mm, or simply stuck with shooting and releasing std 16mm. Examples might include Nina Menkes, as well as Jon Jost who both went from std 16mm to 35mm (the exception is Jost's Sure Fire which was shot on s16). In the last 5 years there's been a number of skateboard and snowboard and surf films shot entirely in std 16mm and/or s16, such as Ye Olde Destruction (Thomas Campbell), and Vans snowboard movie Landline. A lot of the recent skate videos released by Nike (Jon Miner), Adidas and other skate shoe makers have shot portions of their scenes on s16. I think Gibbs Chapman shot Mother Mortar, Father Pestle on s16, and... performed his own blow-up on that old ILM machine? But maybe I making that up. A small number of Portland makers shoot on s16. And a large number of Frameworks subscribers!
