Easy Cherry Cobbler

You can assemble this cobbler in minutes, let it cook while you enjoy dinner,
and it'll be ready just in time for dessert.  Crown it with a scoop of ice
cream to melt on top.

1/4 c butter or margarine
3/4 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c milk
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 (16 ounce) can pitted tart red cherries, undrained

Place butter in an 8-inch square baking dish.  Preheat dish in oven at 350
degrees for 5 minutes or until butter melts.

Combine flour and next 3 ingredients in a medium bowl; add milk and almond
extract, stirring until smooth.  Pour batter over melted butter. (Do not
stir).  Pour cherries over batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until lightly browned.  Serve warm.
Makes 6 servings.
