This is due to drm exposing backlight interface via backlight(9).
Before this the backlight hardware was "free" so the acpi_video(4) kernel
module could use it, now that we hook the backlight part of drm into
backlight(9) the acpi_video(4) module cannot use the hardware anymore.
Long story short, don't use the sysctl anymore but use backlight(8).
