That similar to a problem I ran into a while back after installing NetBSD for dual booting on a disk that already had FreeBSD installed. I figured out that the NetBSD disklabel command labels all slices on the disk, even those your aren't installing NetBSD into. Fortunately, I saved off my FreeBSD bsdlabel output so restoring my partition layout was easy once I figured out the situation. And I didn't have to restore any data either.
