That fix for the ^T crash

Hi, Brian!

I'm concerned that your fix won't make it before the code freeze.  Is
there a problem with it?  I admit I haven't actually tested it. :-(
My excuse is that I assumed you had.

Or should I just do a quick test on your patch (+ bde fixes) and commit
it myself?
