http://libpkg.googlecode.com/ This is David Forsyth's GSoC project to build a standard library for managing the on-disk package database. His pkg_info implementation built on this library is in fact a lot faster than what's currently in the tree. He's starting to prototype pkg_delete and pkg_add on the new library but there's still a lot of work to do.
