We were all new once.

There are many reasons - language, social fluidity, economic background,
etc. - for which a too-high initial hurdle can make a high bar so
insurmountable as to prevent valuable contributors from getting in at all.
Mentorship needs to take this into account.

The trick is maintaining quality control at higher volumes, without
quashing newbie enthusiasm. :) There are tools for managing this somewhat,
but open source needs to grow more in this area.
