Well ... for a wild guess it was Right On Top ...

After searching the freebsd-current mailling list i located the bit about
malloc.conf

ln -sf j /etc/malloc.conf   <--- fixed the problems i was having

Thanks ... (maybe a HEADS UP in UPDATING ??)
