video mpeg broken?

It seems that something has broken plaympeg - at least for video. In
trying to play video back, I get a black window and no images.  Audio
playback seems fine. This is something I don't do often, so I'm not
sure when it happened.

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone working on it?
