Bug ID: 264389 Summary: Handbook has misleading information concerning wayland on Nvidia Product: Documentation Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: Books & Articles Assignee: d...@freebsd.org Reporter: tino.en...@hotmail.com The handbook states (in chapter 5.10): "The current Nvidia driver should work with most wl-roots compositors, but it may be a little unstable and not support all features at this time. Volunteers to help work on the Nvidia DRM are requested." This is misleading, since due to missing module nvidia-drm basically no wayland compositor can be started. This can also be seen from the package message of wlroots port: "Known issues: NVIDIA option (aka wlroots-eglstreams) requires nvidia-drm.ko from nvidia-driver" This means wayland is not functional with nvidia driver, but it may take a lot of time for users to figure this out, since the handbook makes the impression that wayland would work with nvidia. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
