What kernel-config are you using?
I have had several fs-crashes because of a to high configured maxusers.
It happens if the kernel wants to use the configured limits but can't
because there is not enough space for that high maxuser.
In recent releases I can't find any reason to configure it higher than default.
Everything else that sometimes need to be higher can be set individualy.

It may be that the added driver triggers the already aimed gun.
