Hi! One of my remote i386 machines preserves the dmesg buffer between reboots, and others not. What features cause this buffer to be preserved? I saw this on Alphas, and thought that this was caused by the "soft" reboot, where (probably) memory contents is not destroyed. But I have never seen this before of i386's:
