Could the jail be stuck "dying" state for a while? IIRC in that state the tap
interface would still be part of its vnet and as such not reparent to host
network stack. It since the dying jails aren't listed by default in jls it
would look like the jail is gone and the interface nowhere to be seen. Please
try `jls -d` to print this. As of FreeBSD 14.0 you can use ifconfig -j
$name_or_jid $iface -vnet in exec.prestop to "steal" back the interface with
the hosts ifconfig command.
