Although good hardware and lots of RAM to cache with can help a lot.
I inheritted a number of machines. I asked the owner and the controller
they got was with 2GB
How about RAID 10 for a DB server?
This is a much better choice, close to ideal.
When the time comes I will try to do the argument to the owner.
