I didn't figure it out from the man page at least. Trying the simple solution doesn't work: root@kg-vm2# freebsd-update fetch Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 5 mirrors found. Fetching public key from update2.freebsd.org... done. Fetching metadata signature for 8.3-RC2 from update2.freebsd.org... done. Fetching metadata index... done. Fetching 1 metadata files... done. Inspecting system... done. Preparing to download files... done. No updates needed to update system to 8.3-RC2-p0. WARNING: FreeBSD 8.3-RC2 HAS PASSED ITS END-OF-LIFE DATE. Any security issues discovered after Fri May 25 02:00:00 CEST 2012 will not have been corrected.
