Hello! > I've been searching the google group without finding anything on this > subject. I must be using the wrong keywords, because I remember (vaguely) > seeing someone post a year or so ago how to restore something in usr.bin or > usr.sbin. Well, I'll keep on trying.
Section 21.4.14 of the handbook has this advice: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If things went slightly wrong, it is easy to rebuild a particular piece of the system. For example, if you accidentally deleted /etc/magic as part of the upgrade or merge of /etc, the file(1) command will stop working. In this case, the fix would be to run: # cd /usr/src/usr.bin/file # make all install ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I've lost the beginning of this thread, so I apologize if this is what you already tried. -- Toomas Aas | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | http://www.raad.tartu.ee/~toomas/ * I haven't lost my mind; I know exactly where I left it.
