I am using a Gigabyte server/workstation board for my desktop. It is a dual socket A board. I have 2x 2400MP athlons in it along with 768 megs of RAM. My load averages tend to be around 1.00 -> 3.00 with CPU utilization 30-40% idle.
My problem is that cvs, bzip2/bunzip2, and tar bring my system to it's knees. Sound stutters badly even though I have set XMMS to use 5 megs of buffering. The mouse slows way down and gets jerky as well. I am running 5.3-RELEASE-p6. Here's a dmesg: Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
