In the announcement/change list for KDE 3.4.2 at kde.org I read this: kppp: fixed PPP interface check on FreeBSD and possibly other systems So I'd suggest you to wait for 3.4.2 becoming the official port. The FreeBSD KDE team seems to be quite fast, so I'd expect this to be a question of days only.
