Thanks for the reply

I didn't recompile a kernel specifically for this.  I thought the bridge was a 
KLD (/boot/kernel/if_bridge.ko)?  ifconfig shows the bridge as running.

Here is my setup:

So if I disconnect alfie, fred will lose connectivity too.


Hopefully this clears up what I meant...
