I still had not enough time to investigate 5.0. I just ran sql-bench a few times on a dual Pentium III 733 machine and noticed that 5.0 was up to 10% slower than 4.1 with the default configuration. So my recommendation is neither binding nor reasonable; it's just a random proposal according to my feeling. :-)
