The FreeBSD site has an installation ISO image for FreeBSD5.4

a stable 5.x ISO image that is current?

        Thank you very much.

Martin:

You'll need to install 5.4 from the iso, then use cvsup to update your sources with the updates. Then read the handbook and /usr/src/UPDATING for the instructions on how to recompile your world and kernel. Your other option is to wait for 5.5 which should be out "any day now".
