Actually this isn't the logo, the nipples on it aren't recessed, but in any case this is really a great example of why this logo does nothing to help the FreeBSD project. What about the logo makes you think of an operating system? And what about this cover is at all compelling to induce someone to pick up the magazine and buy it?
