That's my question. How do I update it if I can't use portmanager, portmaster (which I don't have) or portupdate (ditto)?

cd /usr/ports/sysutils/portmanager && make deinstall && make install ... if you haven't cvsup'ed lately, I'd try to grab a snapshot of ports first.
