There is a commercial program, textmaker (www.softmaker.com), which I have found much better than Abiword in handling word documents, but I doubt it supports OpenDocument.
I'll second the nomination for TextMaker. It works quite well. I run it under Linux emulation. I believe the next version will have support for OpenOffice documents.
