I see this all the time. It's one of the curses of software dependencies. The technique I use and recommend is portupgrade with the -o option. Something like: portupgrade -fo net/openldap23-client openldap-client-2.2.30 will replace the 2.2 version with the 2.3 version. I've done this on a few systems without problems.
