The drive knows about one bad sector that has developed since the drive left the factory.

Where I'm at, that's sufficient to have the vendor replace the drive (because by the time that is a bad sector where live data lives).

Yea the disk is going bad.

Try:

# sudo camcontrol defects da0 -f block -G
