Thank you for such a quick response. 1. How could I verify which driver is being used? 2. I went it the post-install configuration and tried downloading the Intel driver package but it failed... giving me error -1 and states to look at debug screen but I have no idea where to see that.

You should also verify that Xorg uses the 'intel' driver.
