        nojoy.

        the err message is gone, but KDE creates an /rmpty kdm.pid and
        does nothing.

        stdout says "Information: reading current kdmrc ..... \n"  and
        then:

        "Infirmation: current kdmrc is from kde 3.1 ....."  

        Nothing else; what else neeeds cleaning?
